The Heritage Middle School Hurricane Band is a group of 250 plus 6th through 8th graders learning all about music and the band. Their instructors, Mr. Hankins (Band Director) and Mr. Ibrom (Assistant Band Director) do an outstanding job with a rapidly growing group of students.
The Legacy Middle School Knights Band is also a rapidly growing group of 6th graders through 8th graders. Their instructors Mr. and Mrs. Beasley (Band and Assistant Directors) do a great job teaching these students what music and band is all about.
The Band Boosters are super proud of these Middle School Bands and understand that these four Directors really have great skill at instilling their love for music into all of these students which hopefully will stay with them forever. For their hard work and abundance of time invested with these children we thank each of them.
The East Central High School Golden Hornet Band is the only high school band in our district. These students work very hard and sometimes long hours to make this band what it is today. We are a 200 member 5A Band that is continually growing each year. Looking at the volume of middle school band students, we should be approaching a size double the current band size in just a very short time. All of these students start the year in Marching Band and at the end of marching season they split into several different groups. Then the Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Drumline and Color Guard evolve into smaller, more specialized groups. The Directors of these students also work very hard, spend numerous extra hours and probably many sleepless nights to make sure these students continue to grow personally and musically and for that we can not offer enough thanks.
We would like to thank the East Central Independent School District and the East Central High School for their support of all of our band activities. The administrative staff from the high school does a great job working with the band & the band booster club and we would like to thank Mr. Toscano and Mrs. Caesar for their personal attention towards the band. Do you have great, innovative and unique ideas in the way of raising money for the band? We would love to hear them. We have had several suggestions for changes of all types ranging from Pre-Game Dinners to all different kinds of fundraisers (ham & turkey sales, a band booster food booth for football games, drumline competition, chili supper and much more...).
