Membership:

Silks: 15*

Weapons: 11* with shadows who are new to spinning weapons and who may be written into the show depending on available space and ability to adjust the drill

Floor/prop crew: 20 max

* numbers are subject to change if additional students fail at the 1st 9-week grade check in the fall; additional positions may be added up to a total of 30 members in January.

Positions for the show will be based on eligibility during the fall marching season.  If you accept a position in the 2010 show, it is expected that you be at all contests without exception.  If you know that you cannot be at a contest, you will be an alternate for the season.

Students who were ineligible for any part of the fall marching season will begin the winterguard season as an alternate.  Opportunities for alternates to challenge will be scheduled throughout the season.  To challenge, you must have been passing at the last grade check, passing all classes on the day of the challenge and able to perform the choreography and drill for the position you are challenging for.

Eligibility deadlines:

  • Friday, January 15 – end of 2nd 9 weeks – you must be passing in the 2nd 9-week grade column (not cumulative semester grades); if you lose eligibility here, you will become a permanent alternate for the season.

Challenge dates (these are the only dates that alternates may challenge for a position):

  • Wednesday, January 13, 2010 during 1st period (must have been passing at the Dec. 11 grade check/progress report)
  • Wednesday, January 27, 2010 during 1st period
  • Wednesday, March 3, 2010 during 1st period

Rehearsals:

  • 1st period guard class is required to hold a position
  • Night rehearsals will begin in mid November and will occur at least once each week, likely Thursday nights until 8 or 9pm.  If a second night is added, it will be Tuesday nights.
  • There will be a weekend clinic (Fri/Sat/Sun) in late November or early December with Mr. Vasquez for all members.

If you miss a rehearsal for any reason (including excused absences) and an eligible alternate is present, they may take over your position permanently at the director’s discretion.
